Akhtar asks DCs to lead effort for transforming Education System
Stresses on taking education as priority sector in Districts
Jammu, April 23 (Scoop News)-Highlighting the need to improve education system in the State, the Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar asked the Deputy Commissioners to take education as a priority sector in their districts. He exhorted upon them to adopt a proactive approach for realizing the objective of transforming education system and making J&K a real knowledge society.
The Minister said this in an interaction held with the Deputy Commissioners of Jammu Division, CEOs and Principals of DIET.
The Minister was accompanied by Minister of State for Information, Education and Culture, Priya Sethi.
Commissioner Secretary Education, Commissioner Secretary Higher Education and Director Education, Jammu were also present in the meeting.
The Minister asked the DCs to identify and adopt at least one school each in their respective districts under the model school concept and act as virtual administrator of the school. It would help streamline the system and bring in the much needed change, Akhtar maintained.
The Minister asked the Deputy Commissioners to utilise their administrative acumen, resources and goodwill to take new and innovative measures to help create an atmosphere of vibrancy and involve school students and faculty in various social activities in the district. Youth festivals, Sports events, cultural programmes, competitions and other activities could be organised at intra and inter district levels, the Minister added.
Urging the DCs Akhtar said “take this as a social responsibility and lead from the front to contribute in transforming the education system”.
The Minister said that regular visits by the DCs to the identified model and other schools in the cluster will improve punctuality and attendance in schools and ensure monitoring to achieve tangible results.
With regard to infrastructural and land related issues the Minister asked the DCs to resolve these issues on priority.
