Bakula Education Campaign concludes in Leh on a positive note

Leh, April 24 (Scoop News)-Re-opening of closed schools, picking up of pass percentage, increasing tendency of enrolment and excelling at interschool level competitions by the students are the live example of improving trend of education system in Govt. schools in Leh district, which has achieved with collective efforts of Council, education department, teaching fraternity, VECs, pubic representatives and parents during the past four years.
This was stated by the Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Leh Rigzin Spalbar while addressing the concluding function of the week long KG Bakula Education Campaign 2015 at Deskit-Tsal today.
Putting the once almost lost credibility on Govt. schools back on track was not an easy task and it was the result of multi prolonged strategies of Council, professional trainings to the teachers by activating the DIET and strict checking and monitoring at all zonal levels, CEC added.
Advising to discard the hypocritic attitude Rigzin Spalbar stressed to churn out maximum result from optimum utilization of available resources and encouraging the teaching fraternity recited the epithet “Where there is a will, there is a way”.
CEC further said that the initiative of recognising the extra efforts and high degree of dedication of many teachers and awarding them at national level occasions and those who failed to achieve desired targets were reprimanded by blocking their annual increment have proven to be instrumental in improving the status of Government schools. Moreover the contribution from CCDF from respective councillors has added to the further improvement of the education system in the district.
Considering the importance of giving educational opportunities to the students of government schools for professional as well as higher studies, the Council has recently signed a MoU with KC Social Welfare Trust that will give free education facilities starting July 2015 where-under as many as 500 students annually from Leh district could get access to the Post Matric Scholarship, under-graduate and post-graduate courses with the provision of basic coaching for civil service exams with full sponsorship from the government besides 50 outstanding students would also be accommodated with free education and coaching in important professional fields like NDA, Management, Medical, Engineering, Hospitality etc. added CEC.
Underlining the un-parallel contribution of late KG Bakula particularly in the field of education CEC said that dedication of teachers, hard work of students and equal co-operation from parents to strengthen the education scenario would be a real tribute to the invaluable vision of KG Bakula. And on this day we should pledge to play our role and responsibility in the best manner so that we can pass on an ideal educational system for security and prosperity of our generations to come. CEC concluded his note with a positive message of ‘we can do it, we have proved it’.
On this occasion, the Executive Councilor Agriculture, Sonam Dorje highlighted the results of Bakula Education Campaign observed in Saspol and Khaltsi zones under his leadership and presented the outcome while as Executive Councilor, Health Dr. Sonam Wangchuk presented the key notes of the campaign in Nubra zone. Similarly, the Executive Councilor, Higher Education, Mohd. Shafi Lassu underlined the conclusions and recommendations of education campaign in Kharu and Chushot zones and the Executive Councilor, Sheep & Animal Husbandry Gurmet Dorje who presided over the Bakula Education Campaign in Durbuk and Nyoma zones presented the end result and key notes of the campaign. The Councilor Kyungyam Dorje Motup also added his observation over the Bakula education campaign carried out in Changthang.
Almost in every key notes, the performance of DIET Leh in streamlining the Govt. schools under the leadership of Principal DIET Konchok Angmo was highly praised saying that DIET has played a key role in training and infusing teaching skill among the teachers through various training programs.
On this occasion, the CEO, Tsewang Phuntsog, gave a brief summery on the basic concept of week long KG Bakula education campaign. Besides. Education and Planning Officer Kunzes Dolma also threw lights on the educational schemes.
Gelong Lobzang Nyantak, Councilor Upper-Leh and Mrs. Diskit Dolma of Press Club of Leh also spoke on the occasion.
The function was concluded with vote of thanks by Dy. Chief Education Officer, Dechen Tsomo.
