NC thanks empowered committee for acknowledging Rather’s role as Chairman SFMI

Jammu, April 25 (Scoop News)- National Conference leaders of Jammu Province on Saturday acknowledged with satisfaction the resolution passed by the Empowered Committee of the State Finance Ministers of India (SFMI), hailing the inspiring role of senior party leader and former Finance Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Abdul Rahim Rather as its Chairperson.
While congratulating Mr Rather for his crucial role in giving new direction to the Empowered Committee in achieving its objectives, the leaders expressed their gratitude to the Empowered Committee for adopting a resolution, acknowledging Mr Rather’s contribution. They described the honour bestowed upon Mr Rather by the Empowered Committee as a tribute to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, whose role has been immense in nation building.
The senior party leaders congratulated Mr Rather for his contribution which has been acknowledged at the national level.
It may be recalled that Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had lauded the role of Mr Rather during the meeting of the Governing Body of the Empowered Committee on 20th March, saying that Abdul Rahim Rather had done commendable job as the Chairman of Empowered Committee of State Finance Ministers of India. He had desired that resolution be passed by the Empowered Committee and conveyed to Abdul Rahim Rather.
Accordingly the Empowered Committee had adopted a resolution which read, “The Empowered Committee of the State Finance Ministers places on record, its sincerest thanks and deep appreciation to Abdul Rahim Rather, former chairman empowered committee of state finance ministers for his commendable devotion and contribution as chairman empowered committee. His skills and tireless efforts in achieving consensus with regard to various contentious GST issues have been instrumental in bringing the centre and the states close to the objective of moving to the GST regime by 1st April 2016.”

The resolution was formally communicated to Mr Rather by Satish Chandra, former secretary to government of India and a present member secretary, of the Empowered Committee.
