Spalbar Inauguration of Irrigates Canal at Serthok-thang


Leh,May 03 (Scoop News)-The six-day tour was fruitful as various issues were solved on-spot; many were directed for early redress and villagers also appreciated the hard work of the various departments which I think is a priceless award any employee can get, underlined CEC Spalbar.
CEC on his last day visit of the six-day tour to Changthang sub-division along-with Executive Councilors Health Dr. Sonam Wangchuk and Animal & Sheep Husbandry Gyurmet Dorjey, Councilor Durbuk Namgyal Dorjey and a team of district officers and engineers today visited Shayok, Laga, Nimgo and Punpun villages of Durbuk villages.
At Tangtse, CEC inaugurated a 4 set of doctors/staff quarter at Primary Health Centre at Tangtse built at a cost of rs. 42.50 lakhs under STF (Special Task Force) by PWD and R&B; a 25 meter span motorable bridge at Punpun built at a cost of Rs. 73.88 lakhs under BADP by PWD; a 25 meter span motorable bridge at Youl-durbuk built under BADP by PWD at a cost of Rs. 70.87 lakhs and also dedicated recently sanctioned medical sub-centre to the people of Nimgo-Patsa.
Yesterday CEC inaugurated an 8.22 kms length of Irrigation Canal at Serthok-thang at Shachukul Durbuk built at a cost of Rs. 1.22 crore under Irrigation & Flood Control that would discharge 30 cusecs of water to cover a major command area of 775 hectares in which cultivable command area is 400 hectares.
Addressing the people of Shachukul CEC advised the villagers to make optimum usage of the canal for both plantation and cultivation by maintaining the condition of the canal which stays strong with maximum usage.
Further, talking about 9 point-demand of the villagers made on his last visit in the month of November 2010, taking each point in detail CEC told them that except few, which had the requirement of State & Central government’s intervention - for instance installation of a BSNL mobile tower, all the demands were fulfilled. He congratulated the villagers and appreciated the officers & officials of the concerned departments for the fulfilment of the works assigned. CEC further assured the villagers of fulfilment of the demands made during this visit in phased manner.
Later at Tharuk High Residential School yesterday, CEC met with the teachers and the students of the school and while interacting with students, CEC gave them the mantra of hard work to succeed in life. He said there is no alternative to hard work and one must find ways to work harder rather than waiting for facilities to reach them.
Today at Shayok, villagers appreciated CEC’s visit and praised all the departments for doing their job honestly and helping them and fulfilment of important demands. Later they requested for their biggest concern of a reliable source of water demanded for an irrigation canal. For this CEC directed Irrigation & Flood Control to conduct a survey for an irrigation canal.
