Veeri, Drabu for introducing high density fruit plants, crop insurance | Direct officers to work out modalities on fast track basis | Srinagar, May 20 (Scoop News)-With a view to introduce new schemes for increasing fruit production in the State, a high level meeting of the officers of Horticulture, Finance Departments besides SKAUST and J&K Bank was held under joint chairmanship of Minister for Horticulture, Abdul Rehman Veeri and Minister for Finance, Haseeb Drabu here today. Minister for Public Works, Syed Altaf Ahmad Bukhari was also present in the meeting. Commissioner Secretary, Agriculture Production, Vice Chancellors SKAUST, Kashmir and Jammu, Chairman J&K Bank, Director General Budgets, Secretary Law, Director Finance Agriculture, Director Law Enforcement Agriculture , Director Horticulture (P&M), Director Research SKAUST, Directors Horticulture, Kashmir and Jammu and Director Agriculture, Jammu were present in the meeting. The meeting discussed thread bare introduction of High Density Plants, Crop Insurance Scheme, Setting up of Apple Model villages, besides constitution of State Pesticides Regularity Authority and establishment of Soil, Pesticides and fertilizer laboratories in the State. The meeting decided that before introducing the high density fruit plants all parameters should be considered and SKAUST should certify the variety of plant material to be imported from European Countries. Regarding the introduction of Crop Insurance Scheme, it was decided that Chairman J&K Bank would take the matter with the Insurance Companies for its early implementation. The meeting decided to set up Soil testing laboratories at district level and pesticides laboratories at divisional level in the State. Besides, modalities for establishment of Model Apple Villages were also discussed in the meeting. The Ministers directed the concerned officers to go ahead with formulation and implementation of these new initiatives to boost fruit production in the State. ... |
