Army hosts “spring event” at Charar-e-Sharief

Srinagar, May 21 (Scoop News)-Army organised a day long Spring Event 2015 for the locals of area at Charar-e-Sharif sports field today. The event marked the culmination of a number of Sadhbhavana events conducted by Rashtriya Rifles Battalion in District Badgam. These events included a cricket tournament for 12 teams of Charar-e-Sharief, Chadoora and Khansahib tehsils, drawing, painting & debate competitions,defence spokesperson said.

He said that Charar-e-Sharief sports field located in the backdrop of Pir Panjal Ranges was an ideal site. The event was attended by Awaam of urban as well as remote localities of Kandi belt. Over 1500 people including elders, youth, women and children attended the spring event. The highlight of spring event was a cultural programme presented by renowned ‘Expression Group” from Srinagar.

The event was inaugurated by GOC Victor Force Maj Gen Arvind Dutta, other important dignitaries present on the occasion were DC Budgam Mr Mir Altaf Ahmad, SSP Mr Mohammad Arshad and DIG Central Kashmir Mr GH Bhatt. The event highlighted the ground work done during various Sadhbhavana activities carried out by the Rashtriya Rifles Battalion at Badgam district. The representative of Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurs Development Institute (JKEDI) was also present during the event, which later on interacted with youth and introduced them with various schemes for promotion of self employment.

On this occasion, GOC Victor Force felicitated Women Empowerment Centre (WEC) with an interlock stitch machine and Youth Guidance Node at Qasba Nagam with an Inverter for uninterrupted power supply. He also felicitated the schools from Ledan and Nilnag by presenting them with computers and the participating cricket teams with cricket kits.

At the end of the event, GOC victor Force also announced the legacy project for upgradation of Charar-e-Sharief, sports ground by construction of seating stand, changing room, toilets and cricket practice nets. The Army extended sincere gratitude towards the locals for their whole hearted support in making the event a success.
