| Four days in Dubai | |

This time I chanced to visit UAE after a span of 3-4 years. I was invited to preside over a lecture by famous heart specialist of All India Medical Institute Dr. Subhash Manchanda.The hall of India Club in Dubai was fully packed to its capacity. Dr. Manchanda spoke on the Yoga and heart health. He gave such simple tips on heart disease that the listeners were spell bound. He not only deliberated on simple formulas on heart diseases but also gave tips to stay fit and happy for 100 years. I introduced the audience about the ‘Diya Foundation’ run by Dr Manchanda which gives free treatment to the poor suffering from heart diseases and provides free education, clothing, food to the slum dwellers. Some of the listeners came forward to donate to this institution as well.
As soon as we reached Dubai, Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak informed me on phone that he was sending a car to bring us to Abu Dhabi. Though Sheikh is Education Minister of UAE, he is the senior most member of of the Royal Family. He is not only popular in UAE, but it is said that if any Sheikh is known to rule the hearts of Indians across West Asia, it is Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak. He is a close friend of mine for the past 15 years. He doesn’t appreciate the word ‘Friend’. He calls me Elder Brother. When I stay with him, he takes particular care of my vegetarian diet. In his palace, over a hundred people take meals with him every day and post meals, they sit together for ‘Majlis’. It includes many ministers, ambassadors, industrialists, Maulanas of many countries. He generally talks for about a minute or two with some chosen guests but he spent 20 minutes with me and Dr. Manchanda talking. He wanted to speak to me the next day too but he told me that he was going out of country.
I spoke to many Indian industrialists, businessmen and professionals. They were little pessimistic about Modi’s government but some people showed their enthusiasm as well. Some of our diplomats and journalists asked me why Modi did not visit any muslim country so far?. He must come to Dubai firstly. This country, if it wills, can invest more than China or America in India. Dubai and Abu Dhabi look like any other Indian city. Everywhere Indians are spotted roaming. Many disasporic Indian leaders also discussed the problems of Indians residing here. So many people were visiting me during my visit that four days passed in a whiff of time.
