Zulfkar flags off supplies to Ladakh
reviews verification process of ration cards
Srinagar, May 28 (Scoop News)-Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD), Ch. Zulfkar Ali today flagged off Ladakh supplies for the year 2015-16.
The Minister said that 9000 quintals of sugar have been allotted for Leh and 10500 quintals of sugar and 85000 quintals of flour for Kargil district for the year 2015-16. He instructed the concerned to ensure adequate stocking of rations in the region within three months.
Secretary, CA&PD, Sourabh Bhagat and Director CAPD Kashmir briefed the Minister about the lifting of food-grains and stock position of commodities.
It was given out that the stock position of Food Corporation of India (FCI) in Kashmir as on date is 7028 MTs of wheat and 39089 MTs of rice.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that it is the priority of the Government to provide commodities like rice, wheat, K-oil and other petroleum products to the consumers in every nook and corner of the State. He said his focused attention is to streamline the CAPD Department.
Later, the Minister reviewed the verification process of ration cards with the Deputy Commissioners of the State through video-conference.
The Deputy Commissioners briefed the Minister about progress of completion of verification process of ration cards of their respective districts. The Minister directed them to complete the process of verification of ration cards by 5th June and send detailed report to the concerned quarters for further action.
The Minister directed the concerned to conduct verification in a transparent manner. He said no ration card will be given to bogus families adding that the families which were not included in 2011 censes will now be incorporated in the list subject to the satisfaction of the concerned Deputy Commissioners.
Director CAPD Kashmir Abdul Rashid War and other officers of CAPD were present in the Video Conference.
