Flood-hit infrastructure to be reconstructed on priority: Priya Sethi
MoS Education reviews education scenario in Anantnag
Anantnag, May 28 (Scoop News)-Minister of State for Education and Information, Ms Priya Sethi today said the present Government is committed to the welfare of the people and the infrastructure damaged during September 2014 floods will also be reconstructed on priority .
Addressing a public gathering here today, the Minister highlighted various public welfare programmes started by the Central Government led by Mr Narendra Modi. She said besides Jan Dhan Yojna, Atal Pension Yojna, DBTL, Din Dayal Uphadyay Gram Jyoti Yojna and other such schemes are successfully under implementation.
Pryia Sethi said the present coalition government in J&K will ensure better road connectivity, scheduled power supply, availability of potable water besides quality education.
She further said that administration will be made transparent and accountable besides throwing out the corrupt elements. She said the Government is contemplating to start women development, youth welfare and self employment programmes so that unemployed educated youth can start their own income generating units by virtue of which they can give employment to others also.
Jugal Kishore, MP and Sofi Yousuf, MLA also addressed the gathering.
Later, Pryia Sethi also chaired a meeting of officers and reviewed progress of schemes in education sector in the district.
It was given out in the meeting that 695 primary schools, 686 middle schools, 106 high, 4 higher secondary schools, 6 Degree colleges including one Women’s college, 6 B.Ed colleges are functional in the district. The literacy rate of the district is 64.33%.
The Minister directed the officers to ensure implementation of Government run schemes on ground in letter and spirit with cent percent transparency. She revealed that the rationalization process will be speeded up for making Government schools effective with judicious deployment of human resource. She instructed the officers to work in close coordination so that set targets are met well in time.
