| Body of drowned girl retrieved in Bandipora | |
Srinagar, May 28 (Scoop News)-The body of a drowned girl was retrieved from the river Jehlum. The girl had drowned when a boat capsized in Hajin, Bandipora on 18th this month.
On 18th May, two sisters 14 years old Jawa and 10 years old Julie daughters of Bashir Ahmad Guroo resident of Rakhi Hajan, Paribal were sailing in a small boat in river Jhelum which capsized near Hajin bridge. Jawa was rescued by some locals while Juli drowned in the river.
Massive searches were launched to retrieve her body from the river, Marine Commando’s (Marcos) were also pressed into service. The body of the girl was fished out near Bakhshi Bala, Hajin yesterday. The body was handed over to her parents for last rites.
