Lal Singh Calls for strengthening healthcare facilities in desert district

LEH, , June 28,(Scoop News)-Minister for Health & Medical Education and ARI & Trainings, Ch. Lal Singh reviewed the functioning of health institutions in Ladakh at a meeting convened at the Conference Hall Leh today.
Chief Medical Officer, Leh, all Block Medical Officers of Leh district, Medical Superintendent of SNM Hospital and other senior doctors attended the meeting.
The meeting deliberated on how to further improve healthcare facilities in the desert district.
The Minister asked the local health authorities to take full advantage of the flagship healthcare schemes like NRHM and NHM. He assured adequate funds for upgradation of medical facilities in Ladakh region.
Ch. Lal Singh impressed upon the doctors to provide better medical facilities to the people of far- flung areas of the district and ensure procurement of quality medicines for the hospitals. He said that all the centrally sponsored programmes and schemes should be implemented and people should be made aware about the schemes like Janani Suraksha Yojna (JSY) and Janani Shishu Suraksha Karikaram (JSSK) so that the best medical facilities reach to the needy people through Govt sponsored schemes.
The Minister also released “Swachhta Guidelines for public Health facilities” in the meeting and distributed the copies to the BMOs of Leh district.
CMO, Leh Dr. P Angchok, Medical Superintendent SNM Hospital Dr Yangchan Dolma and other senior doctors also shared their views for further improvement of health services in the district. BMOs of Leh district also expressed their views and highlighted their problems in the meeting.
Project Director J&K AIDS Control Society Dr. Mohan Singh; Mission Director NRHM Dr. Yashpal Sharma; Director Family Welfare Dr. Baldev Raj Sharma; Controller Drugs Dr. Nazir Ahmed Wani; Deputy Director Health Kashmir Dr. Ab. Karim were also present in the meeting.
