Bukhari reviews pace of developmental works ,Calls for setting up dedicated offices for DDB
Ramban, July 06 (Scoop News)-Minister for Law, Justice, Parliamentary Affairs and Relief & Rehabilitation, Syed Basharat Bukhari, who is also the chairman of District Development Board (DDB), Ramban, visited Banihal and Ramban districts and took stock of various establishments of Jammu Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation (JKTDC).
The Minister ordered setting up of a dedicated office for the chairman DDB at the district headquarters Ramban which besides coordinating the follow-up of the decisions taken in the DDB meetings will also act as a Grievance Redressel Cell.
On his maiden visit to the District as Chairman DDB after the Board meeting on 2nd July, the Minister was accompanied by MLA Banihal, Vikar Rasool Wani, MLA Ramban, Neelam Kumar Langeh, MD JKTDC Farooq Ahmad Shah, Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Farooq Ahmad Shah Bukhari, besides senior officers from R&B, Revenue and JKTDC.
The Minister on his visit to JKTDC establishment on the National Highway at Seri, Ramban, asked MD JKTDC to facilitate renovation of the building at the earliest. He asked the concerned authorities to prepare a site plan to redo the whole place with better rooms, landscaping and a restaurant, so that it could offer better facilities to the tourists using the National Highway.
At the Tourist Dak Bungalow, Ramban the Minister inspected rooms and also took stock of various facilities being provided there. He asked the concerned to prepare a DPR for renovating the main building adding that it should offer better facilities on modern lines however, the renovation should be carried out keeping its heritage fabric intact. “Ramban & Banihal are gateway to Kashmir and should make the tourists feel that they are approaching Kashmir Valley,” he said.
The Minister also inspected the adjacent area and it was decided that a R&B Dak Bungalow shall also come up there by re-accommodating some residential quarters.
Underscoring the importance for providing better ambience and facilities, the Minister at the JKTDC Cafeteria asked the concerned to immediately install ACs inside the restaurant, improve its ambience and also to provide uniforms to the staff so that a dress code could be maintained. He also asked the management to increase the green patch on the outside of the cafeteria so that an open air restaurant facility could also be offered there.
Meanwhile, during his extensive tour to the area, the Minister also paid a visit to the Administrative Complex, Ramban. He asked the Deputy Commissioner to establish a DDB Chairman’s Cell in his office with adequate staff from both civil and police, adding that it would help in consolidating issues pertaining to various departments and their communication to the Chairman’s office through a proper channel. He further said that it could also act as a Grievance Cell for the issues pertaining to the general public.
The Minister also issued instructions to the Deputy Commissioner to finalize the preparation of the helipad in the area for which the land has already been identified. He also directed the concerned R&B officials to build interior partitions in the blocks within 20 days so that rest of the offices could also be shifted there.
At the tourist Dak Bungalow, Banihal the Minister inspected the portion of the building that was affected due to a fire incident. He asked the concerned to rebuild the portion maintaining its original architectural outlook. He also inspected the restaurant and called for its upgradation. He also asked MD JKTDC to plan out an Arts Emporium and a shopping arcade in the space available with the facility so as to attract more tourists.
The Minister also visited other JKTDC establishments in the area and called for upgradation of their overall ambience and various facilities.
Meanwhile, various local delegations also called upon the Minister and presented before him their issues. Giving a patient hearing, the Minister assured them that all their genuine demands shall be considered on priority.
