| Sajjad Shaheen seeks compensation for cloudburst hit people of Banihal | |
Banihal, July 06 (Scoop News)-Expressing concern over the damages caused due to cloud bursts in various parts of the Banihal Assembly Constituency since last evening, District President National Conference Ramban Mr Sajjad Shaheen on Monday called for immediate relief to the sufferers.
“Till the time an assessment is made about the losses, the suffering people need to be given immediate relief”, Mr Shaheen said in his interaction with some of the sufferers during his visit to cloud-burst hit areas.
He said the most affected villages, which have suffered damages due to flash floods in the wake of cloud bursts include Chareel,Arabal,Tethar, Bankoot,Khari, Trigam, Mahu-Mangit, Sumar, Neel, Pogal,Paristan, Bingara, Amkote, Chaka,Shagan, Chaknarwa and other areas of Banihal Constituency.
Mr Shaheen accompanied by several local party functionaries extensively toured the areas and took stock of the situation. He said while several houses were partially damaged, culverts and small bridges had been extensively damaged. He said standing crops and cultivable areas have also been hit adversely while the cloud bursts have disrobed drinking water and power supply, which was already scarce.
The District President stressed the need for taking up restoration works on immediate basis, ensuring functioning of utility services and providing compensation to the sufferers.
Mr Shaheen expressed solidarity with the sufferers and assured them that the problems confronted to them will be taken up at appropriate level.
