Wanton police action results in injuries to scores of ACC supporters including its chairman
people condemn use of force on peaceful marchers

Jammu, August 1, (Scoop News)-Scores of ACC supporters were injured when police resorted to baton charge and lobbed tear smoke cannisters to disperse a peaceful march of the activists who wanted to hold a demonstration outside the official residence of deputy chief minister, Nirmal Singh, but were prevented by police from moving close to the place, official sources said on Saturday.

After witnessing a reign of senseless brutalities unleashed on the peaceful marchers, speaker after speaker declared their resolve to further intensify the ongoing mass movement for establishing AIIMS in Jammu.

“We were clear in our minds right from the day one that the BJP was not interested in appreciating the sentiments of the people of Jammu province as it has chosen to turn intensely and slavishly pro-Kashmir after they entered into alliance with PDP" said ACC chairman, Abhinav Sharma.

He said under the influence of its new Kashmiri mentors, the BJP is treating the people of Jammu like animals unworthy of any decent treatment.

"Entire Jammu is seething with anger and the BJP will have to pay unimaginable price for their treachery and betrayal of the people of Jammu,”he said seconds before he was brutally assaulted by the police under the instructions of BJP leadership in Gandhi Nagar area of the winter capital.

After inflicting serious injuries to ACC chairman, the police whisked away scores of cadres who too were injured during lathi-charge and teargas shelling.

Earlier, heavy police contingent did not allow massive rally of AIIMS CC to enter either Canal Road or old city areas. The marchers broke open the police cordon at several places and moved towards different parts of the old city raising pro AIIMS for Jammu and anti-BJP slogans.

They informed the already enraged general public about the barbarities perpetrated upon the peaceful supporters of AIIMS CC. They forced the police to raise anti-Pakistan and pro-India slogans outside Shri Raghunath Temple.

“For the people of Jammu, who have been suffering discrimination and marginalization for more than six decades, it is fight to the finish. We are prepared for a long haul. We will resort to all peaceful means to preserve our self-respect and achieve our targets including AIIMS and proper share in the governance of the state as true Indian nationals,” said the entire leadership of AIIMS CC.

The most remarkable aspect was the enthusiasm of the people with which they received the thousands of proccessionists amid slogans like Vande Mataram, Bharat Mata Ki Jai, Jai Jammu Jai Bharat. The people renewed their faith and support to AIIMS movement in Jammu.

Senior leaders of the AIIMS CC questioned the very credibility of BJP and charged it with cheating the people of the region through its fake Jammu specific slogans. These leaders were unanimous in expressing that BJP is the only party in the country which has consistently bartered its ideology to capture power or retain control over it.

They said, “the fact of the matter is that BJP was never committed to what it preached to beguile the general public to garner their support and votes and that the history of the BJP is the history of compromises and betrayals.”

Among others addressed the rally of AIIMS CC included retd Sessions Judge and president JPPF, Pavitar Singh, Inderjeet Khajuria, Sardar Trilochan Singh Wazir, president, Sr vice-president and secretary general CCI, Jammu, Rakesh Gupta, Sham Lal Langar and Arun Gupta, President All J&K Passenger Transport Association, Devinder Chowdhary, former Bar president, B S Slathia, Panun Kashmir leaders Dr Agnishekhar and Dr Ajay Chrungoo, Professor Hari Om Mahajan, Narayan Singh, Dr C L Gupta, M S Katoch, Anan Sharma, vice-president and secretary general JKHCBA, Jammu, Pranav Kohli, SoS chairman Rajiv Chuni, Sardar Rajinder Singh, Madan Rangeela, Sham Lal Basson, advocate Suhasni Vashisht, Mrs Kamla Sharma, Mrs Sunita Sharma, Dheeraj Pargal, Rajkumar and Inderjeet Sharma.
