20 girl students leave on 15 days trip of other states to get wider exposure | Army committed to win ' hearts and minds' of locals in Drass area | Drass (Kargil), August 1, (Scoop News)-A fifteen days educational cum motivational tour was flagged off for the girl’s students of Drass region, Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, a defence spokesman said.
He said the tour comprises of 20 girls students in the age group between 11 and 15 and 4 teachers besides necessary administrative backup is being provided by the army for complete duration. During the tour the girls students will be taken to Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Delhi, Jaipur, Ajmer, Agra, Fatehpur Sikri, and Ambala.
"The tour would give girls students a wider exposure to other states of India and educate them about the rich historical, religious, s n cultural and natural heritage of our country as also expose them to its scientific and technological progress", the spokesman added.
He said the tour aims to instill in them a spirit of patriotism and further integrate them into the national mainstream. In addition to sightseeing, the tour will motivate the children to excel in their studies, so as to avail better avenues and opportunities both inside and outside the Himalayan state. Indian Army has been undertaking various goodwill activities under Project ‘Operation Sadbhavana’ to uplift the living standards of the people of remote areas and to “Win the Hearts and Minds” of local population by its relentless pursuit to bring peace and tranquility in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
