NC decries use of force against civil society | | Jammu, August 01 (Scoop News)- National Conference on Saturday condemned use of excessive force on the peaceful protestors, seeking AIIMS for Jammu and described the police action as unfortunate and unwarranted. “Using the police force to muzzle sane voice of people speaks of frustration enveloping the PDP-BJP Government in the wake of mishandling the situation”, Provincial President Mr Devender Singh Rana said in a statement, adding that these measures are bound to recoil and boomerang. He said the BJP has turned highly intolerant to dissent and therefore it is shamelessly indulging in trampling basic democratic rights of the people. “In the instant case, they have made the civil society target of their arrogance, who dared to call their bluff on AIIMS”, he said. Mr Rana cautioned the government against its highhandedness and said that anti-democratic measures would be effectively resisted. “Instead of having introspection over failing in realizing the commitments, the BJP has chosen to crack on the agitators, who are conscience keepers of the society”, he maintained. Provincial Youth National Conference President Mr Ajaz Jan and District President NC Urban Jammu Mr Dharamveer Singh Jamwal also condemned the police action, saying the dejection of BJP is discernible in the acts of violence it is perpetrating on the peacefuldemonstrators. ... |
