Thajiwara Bijbehara Annual yatra on 29th August
KPs leave for Chota Amarnath pilgrimage

Jammu, August 27 (Scoop News)-Annual festival and yatra of Pracheen cave of Lord Shiva at Thajiwara (Bijbehara), Anantnag will be held on 29August 2015 on the eve of Shravan-Puranmashi.

Hundreds of pilgrims from different Kashmir Pandit migrant colonies of Jammu left for pilgrimage to the ancient holy cave-temple of Lord Shiva at Thajiwara Bijbehara in South Kashmir this morning.


It is pertinent to mention that this cave has a tremendous religious importance in the valley since long and is also regarded to be a part of annual Shri Amarnath yatra.



Thajiwara annual Yatra and festival, at “Pracheen Cave of Amarnath at Thajiwara,Bijbehara will be held on 29th August (Saturday) 2015 under the auspices of Devasthan Prabandhak Committee Tehsil Bijbehara.


Annual Puja Archana will start on 28th August 2015 evening at the renovated shrine complex and will continue till evening 29th August 2015 on the eve of Shravan Purnamashi.


Pracheen cave of lord Amarnath at Thajiwara is one of the most prominent religious shrines of Hindus. This Asthaphana is believed as an inseparable part of Holy cave of Sawami Amarnath Ji pilgrimage and has similar religious importance. It is the reason that Pracheen (Anicent) Cave of Thajiwara,Bibehara has been attracting devotees since times immemorial for spiritual solace.


“We hope that like previous years, this year also the local Kashmiri Muslims will welcome their Pandit brothern who will come from different parts of Jammu, Kashmir and other parts of the country” said Prof M L Malla, President, Devasthan Prabandhak Committee Tehsil Bijbehara

He added that thousands of people are expected to be there on on the eve of Shravan Purnamashi day.

Prof Malla said that” the real home land for Kashmir Pandits is the place where they were born and brought up.”


The Managing Committee has been also striving for inclusion of Thajiwara shrine in the category of pilgrim tourism spots of Jammu and Kashmir.
