Arrangements for Sankri Mela discussed
Udhampur, August 27 (Scoop News)-Arrangements for smooth conduct of 3-day historic Sankri Devta mela starting from September 8th in village Meer of Block Panchari in district Udhampur were discussed here in detail under the chairmanship of Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Udhampur, Rajeev Magotra at Conference hall, DC Office.
Chief Medical Officer, Dr Arun Sharma, Tehsildar Panchari, Mr Narinder Kumar, District heads of various departments,DSP Mr Jamwal, Chairman Shiv-Parvati Cave Shrine Moungri, Social Activists, and Local Mela Committee members attended the meeting.
During the meeting, arrangements of security, sanitation, medicare, drinking water and power supply and transportation were discussed. It was decided that District Police would deploy adequate security personnel during Mela days while ARTO would deploy sufficient number of buses from different locations whereas Health Department would ensure sufficient arrangements of medicare with stand by ambulance arrangements. Municipality department Udhampur was directed to deploy 5 employees for cleaniliness and hygiene of the mela site. Tourism department was directed to give wide publicity of mela. Excise department was also asked to keep the wine shops of the Kainthgali and Panchari area closed during the mela days.
Tehsildar Panchari has been appointed as Mela Officer, who would keep a strict vigil on the checking of rates and quality of eatables in coordination with officers of departments concerned besides supervising all arrangements of the mela.
For the awareness of people about various government sponsored schemes, different government departments would setup their stalls.
Speaking on the occasion, the ACR exhorted upon the officers to put in their coordinated efforts for smooth conduct of the Mela. He urged the local mela committee members to come forward in making the mela a grand success as public participation is of great importance in promoting tourism and economy of the area.
