Kumbathang-(Kargil), October 6, (Scoop News)-The Army’s 14 Corps Tuesday flagged off a National Integration Tour (NIT) from Kargil to cities in North India and the Union capital, New Delhi.

This educational-cum-motivational tour for students, as a part of Operation Sadhbhavana, is yet another endeavour by the Army to expose the people from the remote villages of the Suru and Zanskar Valleys in Kargil district to other parts of the country and foster a close bond with local population.

The tour was flagged of at Kumbathang near Kargil by Mohd Hassan Khan, Deputy Commissioner, Kargil.

On interaction with the tour participants, they expressed happiness over the initiatives taken by Army, thus providing the locals an opportunity to witness the infrastructural development and thereby strengthening the secular and social fabric of the country.

The 20 students will visit Kargil War Memorial at Drass enroute before moving to Jalandhar and New Delhi. Apart from this, they will also be visiting few small scale industries and model villages in Punjab and Haryana thereby gaining valuable experience for possible implementation of similar models in their own villages.

They will also visit culturally and historically important monuments in Delhi like Red Fort and Qutub Minar. Armed with the experience of visiting modern marvels like the Delhi metro and multi-storied shopping malls, these youth are indeed looking forward to the tour with a mix of hope, excitement and aspirations for a better future.
