DDC assesses people’s problems at grievance redressal camp

Laiter(Reasi), October 6 (Scoop News)-District Development Commissioner, Reasi Sushma Chauhan today assessed the problems of the people at public grievances redressal camp held here at Laiter village of Pouni block.
The DC had a firsthand appraisal of the problems of the people and made them aware about the benefits of various welfare schemes.
Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) - Suram Chand Sharma, Chief Planning Officer- HL Sharma, Executive Engineers, all district officers and heads of various projects were also present.
Sarpanch, Panchs and people of the area projected local demands which included better transport facilities, augmentation of drinking water supply and regulation of transport fare. They also demanded replacement of old electric poles, better medical facilities, macadamization of roads and check on the functioning of the field staff of different service departments. They suggested that the developmental works should be proposed after taking into consideration the topography of the area.
Detailed deliberations were held sector wise during which the working of the Anganwadi centres, schools and Health institutions was reviewed.
Other issues raised included improvement of roads, better provision for livestock health care and regulation of ration supply.
The DDC asked the concerned departments to work out effective action plans for time bound redressal of grievances raised by the people.
Addressing the gathering, the DC said that more such camps will be organised for mitigating the problems of the people of rural and far off pockets within shortest possible time. She emphasized the need for close coordination between the administration and the people for effective implementation of welfare and development programmes.
Responding to the complaint of overcharging by transporters, the DC said the matter has already been brought into the notice of ARTO with the directions to make it mandatory for all modes of passenger vehicles to display the fare notice as approved by the department for different routes.
The DC directed the officers to make frequent visits to far – off and hilly areas to ascertain the people’s grievances and early redressal of the same.
