LC adopts resolution calling for extension of rail connectivity to Poonch, Rajouri | | Srinagar, October 7,(Scoop News)-The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council today unanimously adopted a resolution calling for extension of railway connectivity to the twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri. The resolution was moved by legislator Yashpal Sharma and supported by Vibodh Gupta, Ajatshatru Singh and Romesh Arora. Replying to the debate on the resolution, Minister for Finance, Dr Haseeb Drabu said preliminarily exercise for extension of railway line upto Poonch and Rajouri has already been conducted by the Northern Railway and the matter is being pursued vigorously with the Centre. He said the State Government is making serious efforts to get the ambitious rail project for Poonch and Rajouri incorporated in the next Railway Budget of the Government of India. Earlier, legislators including Surinder Choudhary, Ajatshatru Singh, Ghulam Nabi Monga, Naresh Kumar, Jugal Kishore, Surinder Ambardar and Vibodh Gupta participated in the discussion on the resolution and strongly pitched for the extension of rail connectivity to Poonch and Rajouri.

The legislator had demanded constitution of a committee of experts to assess the threats to the state’s natural resources.
