| Mehbooba Mufti not acceptable to Jammu, BJP: Hari Om | | Open letter to Shri Amit Shah Ji, BJP national president |

Well-wisher and true soldier of the party as I am, I am yet again taking the liberty to bring to your kind notice the very strong reaction Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s November 13 Jammu announcement that his daughter and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti could lead the government in Jammu and Kashmir sooner than later instantly evoked both from the general public and those in the BJP who had been putting in their all to build up the party in the region since decades to defend and promote further the national interest in the state and serve the cause of the nationalistic Jammu province.
The announcement has rattled and alarmed the general public in Jammu province and upset the genuine workers of the BJP. They have in one voice said “Mehbooba Mufti is not acceptable to them”.
“The incumbent Chief Minister, Mufti Sayeed, has already caused an irreparable damage to the paramount national interest in the state by advocating the Pakistani cause and alienated the patriotic and suffering people of Jammu province by devising and ruthlessly implementing the patently Kashmir-centric and out-and-out anti-Jammu policies. The national interest and the interests of the people of Jammu province would be further fatally injured and jeopardized in case Mehbooba Mufti is made the Chief Minister,” a number of senior BJP leaders and politically conscious people of Jammu told me during the interaction I had with them over this disturbing development.
“Her elevation to the top executive post in the militant and separatist-infested state will not only completely destroy the BJP in Jammu province and further complicate matters in the restive Kashmir Valley, but would also greatly help the hostile neighbour push forward its sinister agenda in the state where the situation has already worsened owing to the PDP-led coalition government’s very soft approach towards Pakistan and its Kashmir-based agents and other anti-national elements in the Valley,” many BJP leaders told me, and very rightly.
Some of them even went to the extent of telling that “they will prefer to go non-political then remain in the BJP”. “How could we and the people of Jammu province accept the leadership of Mehbooba Mufti, who is known both for her doubtful credentials and divisive approach towards Jammu and Kashmir?, they asked.
The view of all the well-wishers and friends of the BJP, who felt dejected after the BJP’s defeat in Bihar, is that “it was time for the BJP to withdraw support to the PDP” and that “to accept the leadership of Mehbooba Mufti would be to play with fire and undo all that the Jan Sangh, the BJP, the RSS and similar other patriotic organizations, plus our committed and chivalrous soldiers, did during all these 68 years of accession to integrate Jammu and Kashmir into India”.
I am entirely in accord with the disturbed and frightened people of Jammu and my colleagues in the BJP. For, their fears are genuine.
I make a fervent appeal to you on behalf of the nation, the people of Jammu province and my sincere colleagues in the BJP to reject the Chief Minister Mufti Sayeed’s announcement. The people of Jammu, who are represented in the Assembly by the BJP, would feel highly grateful to you if you could very kindly reject the announcement and declare that the BJP will from now onwards sit in the opposition and discharge its obligations towards the nation and nationalist people of the state.
