| CEC inaugurates art heritage of Ladakh at TIC, Leh | | 
Leh, November 17(Scoop News)-CEC, LAHDC, Leh Dr. Sonam Dawa today inaugurated the first of its kind exhibition on rock art heritage of Ladakh at TIC, Leh. The exhibition showcases the presentation of a collection of prehistoric rock art of Ladakh over more than last 15 years by Tashi Dawa, Zoology lecturer at Degree College Leh. The exhibition is being organized and sponsored by LDA, Leh.
Tashi Dawa gave a brief presentation on his collection of rescued rock piece and rock art replicas and photographs depicting more than 2000 years old elements of Tibetan and Central Asia Art. He highlighted the extinction threat to the exhisting rock arts in various places in the district and felt the dire need to preserve it.
CEC appreciated his work and suggested Dr. Zaida, CEO, LDA to undertake the preservation works of rock art by LDA. The further instructed Dr. Zada to organize such exhibition cum seminar at a larger scale involving council, administration and social institutions to create mass awareness among the people on the importance and preservation of these valuable heritage monuments. He also ensured to take u the matter with BRO and paramilitary concerning protecting the rock arts during road constructions etc.
Dr. Zaida said LDA realized that awareness among the masses is one of the priority areas that could be initiated. This exhibition is one of the first steps we took to creat awareness and conserve rock art heritage of Ladakh.
Others present on the occasion were ECs, DC Leh, CMO, SE PWD, Chief Conservator Forest, Ex-en PHE, Ex-en R&B, Ex-en Construction, AD Tourism.
