Governor N.N. Vohra, Chairman of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board has expressed shock and grief over the tragic helicopter crash in Katra in which Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrims and a woman pilot was killed. In a condolence message the Governor has prayed for the peace to the departed souls and for strength to the bereaved families in their hour of grief. Earlier in the day, immediately after hearing about the crash, the Governor directed the CEO of the Shrine Board to rush to the site and make all necessary arrangements for medical examination and transportation of the dead bodies to the homes of those killed, after informing the DGCA to order an immediate enquiry. The Governor also directed the payment of immediate ex-gratia of Rs. 3 lakh to the next of kin of each of those killed.
Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Mondayexpressed grief over the death of seven persons in a helicopter crash when they were flying to pay obeisance at the holy Mata Vaishnodevi Devi Shrine, near Katra. The tragic accident happened when the chopper caught fire, killing six pilgrims and the lady pilot. In his message of condolence, Mufti Sayeed expressed solidarity with the families of the deceased persons and prayed to Almighty to give them courage to bear this irreparable loss. He also prayed for peace to the departed souls.
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President and Member Parliament, Ms Mehbooba Mufti has expressed shock and grief over the tragic death of Vaishnov Devi pilgrims in a helicopter crash near Katra in Jammu today. Ms Mehbooba said she feels deep grief over the tragic death of the pilgrims in the crash and extends her heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. She prayed for the peace to the departed souls. She said chopper service providers, operating on various pilgrims and tourist destinations in J&K, should put in place an effective mechanism to avert such tragedies in future.
Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah and Working President Mr Omar Abdullah on Monday expressed deep grief and shock over the killing of several pilgrims and the pilot in helicrash at Katra and conveyed their condolences to the bereaved families. In separate messages, Dr Abdullah and Mr Omar Abdullah described the incident as most tragic and prayed for peace to the departed souls. National Conference General Secretary Mr Ali Mohammed Sagar, Provincial President Jammu Mr Devender Singh Rana, senior functionaries of the party, legislators and ex-legislators have also expressed shock and grief over the incident and conveyed condolences to the bereaved families. The National Conference leaders expressed solidarity with the bereaved families and prayed for granting them strength to bear the irreparable loss.
