Sher-e-Kashmir set an example of brotherhood and harmony in governance:NC | Party reviews preparations for Sher-e-Kashmir's Birth Anniversary |
Srinagar , November 26 (Scoop News)-National Conference in a joint statement issued today expressed concern and voiced dismay over the growing atmosphere of hostility in India and its subsequent ramifications in the State leading to communal discord.
In a meeting held at NC Headquarters at Nawai Subah chaired by Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani, it was unanimously decided that the party would work towards fighting divisive and communal elements and expose their nefarious designs. He demanded that government comes clean on what was being done to ensure that Kashmiri truckers, students and workers living and travelling outside Kashmir are safe. “What have they decided to do about the recent attacks on truckers in Srinagar-Jammu highway?” he said.
“Sher-i-Kashmir, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah has set an example and our governance, no matter who is at the helm of affairs, has to be a reflection of that harmony and brotherhood. Then only will we be able to protect the unique fraternal ethos of Jammu and Kashmir,” Wani said as he addressed senior NC leaders who had assembled to finalize arrangements for commemorating birth anniversary of Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah on December 05.
The Provincial President said that National Conference had already made its stance clear and stood by people who had dared to voice their feelings against growing intolerance in India. “Anyone who dares to speak against the hostility and mistrust being bred in India by leadership of which PDP is a part is being hounded and harassed. We will not sit as silent spectators as this happens,” he said.
The meeting was attended by senior NC leader and MLA Eidgah Mubarak Gul, MLA Habba Kadal Shameema Firdous, Vice President JKNC Syed Mohammad Akhoon, District President Srinagar Peer Afaq, Provincial Secretary Showkat Ahmed Mir and other party leaders. ... |
