| Prof.Nusrat Choudhary is no more | |  Jammu, February 06 (Scoop News)-Former HOD, Department of Urdu,University of Jammu Prof.Nusrat Choudhary passed away at Delhi hospital after a prolonged illness,
Prof.Nusrat Choudhary joined Department of Urdu, University of Jammu in 1985. First she was joined as lecturer and then reader and Professor. She remained HOD Urdu from 2006 to 2009.
Prof.Nusrat Choudhary did his M.Phil and Ph.D from Kashmir University under the supervision of renowned Urdu writer Prof.Hamidi Kashmiri.She did his Ph.d on reputed Poet of Sub-continet Faiz Ahmed Faiz, Her book on Faiz is considered best book written on Faiz Ahmed Faiz.Prof. Nusrat Choudhary was a profilic writer and Poetess, She has written several books in Urdu and has also compiled her poetic collected “Hatheli ka chand”.
The HOD Urdu, Prof.Shohab Inayat Malik has condoled the demise of Prof.Nusrat Choudhary. He said Urdu has lost a feminist writer, the vaccum created by her death could not be fulfilled. Prof.Shohab further said that during his headship in Urdu Department she organized various literary functions including National Seminars and Mushairas. The faculty members including Prof.Sukhchain Singh, Dr.Reyaz Ahmed, Dr.Chaman Lal, Dr.A.R.Manhas and Dr.Farhat Shamim too has condoled the death of Prof.Nusrat Choudhary.They too described her death a great loss to the Urdu language & literature.
