Chuni demands CBI probe against ERA, R-APDRP works
Norms being neglected; unprecedented loot underway

Jammu, February 06 (Scoop News)-The ongoing work of Rehabilitation of Water Supply Pipe Laying Network executed by Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) across Jammu region has come under scanner as all the work is being carried out in sub-standard by nature. The extravaganza of robbing public exchequer is being carried out by unholy co-ordination of ERA officials and contractor that has been chosen for the execution of the task. The contract has been assigned to Technofab Engineering Private limited and what is surprising that the parent firm has sublet the work to other firms and those sublet firms have sublet task to other firms. The subletting over subletting of task has deteriorated the condition of ongoing work moreover, the complete mis-coordination among various Government departments adding more woes to the problem of people.
Rajiv Chuni, Chairman, S. O. S. International in a press statement issued here said that one side ERA has ram-shackled the condition of roads by digging pits of laying water supply network where on the other side IRCON that has been chosen under the project Restructured Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme (R-APDRP) for replacing existing network of electricity including replacement of naked wires with coated wires, replacement of poles and other allied work is also following the footsteps of contractor by sublet the work to other small contractors. “The Subletting over subletting work to various contractors has put the Jammu City in nuisance where the common masses is suffering a lot. The supervising wing of Power Development Department (PDD) has unholy nexus with contracting agencies as there is no check on the quality of work because supervisors let sub-standard work executing against some bucks” he alleged.
S. O. S. International Chairman demanded CBI inquiry in bungling in the both the tasks carried out by both departments. He alleged that to execute works, the Government has borrowed the loans from Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the borrowed loans have to be repaid but executing agencies have nothing to do with it except filling their pockets by robbing public exchequer. “The unprecedented loot by Government agencies along with unholy nexus with contractors has not brought the attention of Government over it, moreover it is so unfortunate that the public exchequer is being robbed without any fear and hesitation. Astonishingly, the concerned authority whose job is to keep an eye on it is keeping deaf ears towards and the fair of embezzlement of funds is rampant right under the nose of it” Chuni added.
“He further said that a complete probe must be ordered to ascertain the bunglings which is being occurred in the name of development. No proper machinery can be seen at work site when poles or coated wires are being installed. The pits are being filled with only soil during erection of electric poles which is posing grave threat to lives of people. If any accident occurs in future then who will be responsible for it. Who will be made accountable if any mishap takes place tomorrow?” S. O. S. International Chairman asked. He further alleged that without the involvement of Government agencies, it is not possible to carry out loot in millions.
S. O. S. International Chairman strongly advocated CBI inquiry over the ongoing bunglings in developmental works across Jammu City and its outskirts. To stop the loot of public exchequer, it is very important and moreover it is the need of hour to inquire the whole projects through central investigating agency especially by CBI so that all the facts can be brought in public domain and punitive action can be initiated in larger public interest. “I demand inquiry in the work execution which is going on the city of temples and its outskirts and if Government is failed to order then I would be left with no option to knock the door of court to ascertain all the facts in front of common masses whose hard earned money is being ransacked by Government agencies and contractors in foul way. It must be the moral and civic duty of every individual to ask for information of work meant for common public as it is carried on their taxes” he added.
