| DC reviews ongoing works of GM, Radpora, stadia | | Inspects sports facilities in various educational institutions | Srinagar, February 06 (Scoop News)- Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Saturday convened a meeting to review the ongoing developmental works of Radpora and Gani Memorial Stadia (GMS) in Shahr-i-Khaas.
Among others, Joint Director Planning, District Youth Service and Sports Officer, Engineers of Sports Council and other line departments were present in the meeting.
The Deputy Commissioner was informed that work on these stadia is nearing completion and an amount of Rs. 90 lakh is being expended on these projects.
The DC directed the officers to ensure use of quality material and better seating arrangement in the stadiums. He also asked them to take appropriate measures for proper drainage system besides construction of boundary walls around both the stadiums.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner convened meeting with Principals of various Higher Secondary Schools of the district and other officers.
The Deputy Commissioner was informed that for the promotion of sports, various initiatives are being taken and in this regard Astro turf facility is being provided in various higher secondary schools of Srinagar.
The DC was further informed that in Kothibagh and Soura Girls Higher Secondary School Basketball courts will be developed while Volleyball courts are being constructed in SP, MP Sonwar and Chattabal Higher Secondary Schools so that better sports infrastructure is provided to the students.
