Mirwaiz meets Bukhari, Madni in Delhi
discusses political situation in Kashmir & problems confronting Muslims across globe with them
New Delhi,February 13,(Scoop News Bureau)-Separatist leader, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, on Saturday met the Imam of historic Shahi Jamia Masjid, Moulana Syed Ahmad Bukhari, Jamiat Ulema Hind President, Moulana Mahmood Ahmad Madani and other Muslims leaders and exchanged thoughts over the political situation in Jammu Kashmir and issues confronting the Islamic world and Indian Muslims.

Expressing concern over the alleged targeting of a particular community in India, carrying their arrests, detentions and harassments and political victimization, the APHC leader while calling for an immediate end to these policies said this was not only undemocratic but also against all principles of humanity and justice.

Chief cleric of Jamia Masjid strongly rejected the notion and termed the comparisons drawn between the struggle of the Kashmiris with extremism and terrorism as unfortunate and unacceptable.

Stressing that the separatist movement was no way related to terrorism, Mirwaiz said Islam and terrorism were two opposite poles as the great religion of Islam was meant for the welfare of the entire humanity.

Explaining that some people and groups, who were promoting terrorism in the name of Islam, had no concern with it, he said these people were just maligning the great religion at the behest of anti-Islamic forces.

Mirwaiz returned to Srinagar this afternoon after spending a few days away in Delhi.

Meanwhile, a spokesman of APHC also condemned the sedition charges imposed by Delhi Police on S A R Geelani and said the move was against the democratic values and freedom of expression.
