Div Com for skill development of youth to enhance employability

Srinagar, February 13 (Scoop News)-Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon on Saturday asked the concerned departments to explore the possibilities of providing training opportunities to the youth in national and multinational companies for their skill development.
He was speaking during a meeting attended by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr. Farooq Lone, officers from Department of Technical Education, and representative from TATA Strive- Right Skills, Bright Future.
The Divisional Commissioner stressed on policy driven approach where apt training is provided to tap the potential of the youth and help them to be skilled manpower with high employability. "Our endeavor shouldn’t be limited to skill development, we should also link it to successful entrepreneurship," he said.
He emphasized the need to provide youth with skills and ability to tackle the upcoming challenges," our institutions at the movement are producing graduates with paper degrees but the focus should be on its market applicability,” he said.
Dr Samon called for constant updating of training programmes and syllabi to ensure that the youth are exposed to the latest technology and industrial environment. The meeting was informed that TATA consultancy is initiating a programme under which, they would be training nearly 40 students in hospitality and protocol services.
