SHD organises camps for migratory lifestock

Jammu, May 02 (Scoop News)- In order to keep surveillance on the ongoing migration of sheep and goat flocks towards highland pastures and have a check on the facilities being provided by Sheep Husbandry Department (SHD) Jammu to the migratory flocks, on the instructions of Director SHD Jammu Dr Sant Ram, the Joint Director Extension, SHD Jammu Dr Sanjeev Kumar inspected First Aid Camps and interacted with the migratory breeders at various locations
During the inspection of First Aid Camp at Shantgalla (Sanasar) it was found recorded that dipping was conducted upon 5540 sheep and goats against various skin diseases while as dosing was administered to 7343 sheep and goats against endo-parasites. Further, 13050 sheep and goats were vaccinated for prophylaxis against various diseases while as treatment was provided to 710 sheep and goats against various ailments.
At various locations from Udhampur to Banihal, the Joint Director interacted with the migratory breeders of Akhnoor, Narwal, Surinsar, Jindrah, Kanayala, Dansal, Dinga Amb, Raika, Sukoon, Udhampur, Deari, Landhar, Pouni (Siart), Reasi, Bhalwal, Kheen and Sumb (Samba) areas to assess their problems.
He advised them to avail the benefit of First Aid Camps established by the department at various locations of migratory routes for sheep and goats. He provided his contact no. to each of the breeders and asked them to contact him directly in case of any exigency or non-availability of medicines etc, if any. He further advised them to proceed towards the alpines keeping in view the fair weather conditions.
