JK Minister visits various villages,takes stock of public issues

Leh, July 26(Scoop News)-On the first day of his two-day visit to the Nubra constituency, J&K Minister for Ladakh Affairs and Cooperatives Tsering Dorjey Lakrook visited Tirisha, Phukpochey, Panamik Kongma, Panamik Yokma, Hargam, and Kuri-Murgi villages to assess the on-going developmental works and to address the grievances of the general public. The minister was accompanied by Executive Councillor for Tourism Tsering Sandup, SDM Nubra Vijay Kumar Sharma, Tehsildar Sumoor, Executive Engineer Special Sub-Division Nubra, BDO Panamik, and other concerned engineers.

Minister Tsering Dorjey addressing the gatherings at various villages talked about the importance of the Ladakh Affairs portfolio which helps in resolving various important developmental and other projects and in solving major and minor issues pertaining to Ladakh, and on assuming this office he hoped of fulfilling the demands of Ladakh where there is higher chance of yielding positive results.

Talking about the supply of electricity connection from Leh, the minister informed the people that the extension of connection has already been sanctioned but due to similar tender rates between Kashmir and Ladakh no any tender was answered by Ladakhi contractors. But after raising the issue with the Deputy Chief Minister, it is now decided that the rates will be decided as per the Ladakh region specifically.
Talking about the issue of replacing of electricity poles, the minister said that all the required surveys have been conducted and that the work of replacement of the poles will be completed at the earliest.
Talking about the 2 major Hydel projects at Aggyam and lChangmar, he said that the projects are under process and expressed hope of its early sanction. In the meantime, a 25MW project at Shayok and a 18 MWproject at Hanu have been sanctioned and one part of Hanu project is nearing its completion after which it will be supplying electricity to Nubra valley which will help solve the existing electricity issues to a great extent, said Minister Dorjey.
Talking about the existing communication problem, the minister assured of installation of 4G level communication facilities which will solve the communication problem and bring the region at par with other parts of the nation.
Talking about the damages caused to the tokpos during last year flash flood, the Minister said that request for its inclusion in new schemes like Prime Minister Krishi Sinchai Yojna have already been sent.

EC Torurism Tsering Sandup who is also the area Councillor on behalf of the villagers expressing gratitude to the minister for his visit congratulated him on assuming the Ladakh Affairs office and updated him that almost all the work assigned under constituency fund has been completed. Talking about the tourism potential in the Panamik belt with hot-spring and important heritage values, effort is going on for development of hot-spring through a master plan in collaboration with the Leh Development Authority. Now, since there is Rs. 120 crore sanctioned for development of Leh district, EC therefore requested the Minister for some extra funds for the development of hot spring from this fund. Regarding the education development scenario, EC requested the Minister for funds for building of a hostel at Panamik.
The Minister assured that he will make efforts to bring funds for Panamik hostel under Tribal Sub-Plan, and for the development of hot-spring, he directed them to do the development on a large scale and in a proper manner by referring to the experts.
Talking about the Seabuck thorn business under Cooperative Department, the Minister told that a DPR has already been submitted for it. Talking further about the benefit of the farmers of Ladakh, the Minister said that an awareness camp will be held under National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) in the month of August, and he therefore urged the farmers to avail maximum benefit from this camp which will educate them to take benefits from various loans / subsidy components under NCDC and other Central sponsored schemes.

At Phukpoche, the villagers demanded for tin sheet for the community hall and opening up of a Medical Aid Centre. The Minister gave directions to include the covering of the tin sheet under BADP and for MAC, he said that it will be opened as per the phase manner. The Ama tsogspa of the village also requested for a training centre for handicraft at Phukpoche.
At Panamik Kongma, the villagers demanded for a link-road.
At Murgi, the villagers requested for completion of their community hall, opening up of a Medical Aid Centre and building of protection bands at their tokpo-nallahs. The villagers also thanked the Minister for providing funds for repair of the headworks.
Earlier, at Khaltsar, the villagers requested the Minister for proper channelization of Khaltsar nallah to which the Minister said that a DPR has already been submitted for it and assured that he will look into the matter to push it further. He further gave directions to the villagers to start the work on irrigation nallah where fund of Rs. 5 lakh has already been given from his constituency fund.
