Mirwaiz condemns govt action of disrupting their programme of 'Kulgam Chalo'
APHC appreciates media's role in highlighting their cause

Srinagar, July 27, (Scoop News)-Continuing with their alleged coercive policies, the government Wednesday imposed restrictions to prevent the ‘Kulgam Chalo’ programme given by the separatist leadership as per which people of Kashmir and the leaders had to gather in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district and pay tributes to the youth of Kulgam who were killed recently and also sympathize with the bereaved families.

All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leader, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, was, however, sent back by a police contingent posted outside his home when he tried to come out of his lakeside residence.

On the occasion, speaking to media persons, the Mirwaiz condemned the government’s action of using alleged force to scoot the separatist programme of ‘Kulgam Chalo’ saying that stopping them from paying tributes and expressing solidarity with bereaved families of Kulgam and locals was a form of atrocity.

Terming the statement of Indian security establishment that pellet gun is not a lethal weapon as attempt to mislead people he said what could be more lethal that the weapon that had already made people handicapped, maimed and blinded. calling for immediate revocation of black laws like the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and stopping the government forces from using lethal weapons against peaceful protestors, he said people should be allowed to express grief and convey their aspirations instead of being subjected to excessive force and military might to trample upon their basic human, democratic, political and religious rights.

Stressing that the economic packages employment allurements, benefits and favours would not solve Kashmir issue, Mirwaiz said it is not a law and order issue but a political issue which needs to be solved by granting the right to self-determination to the people only then peace and stability would remain elusive in the region.

Meanwhile, a spokesman of APHC acknowledged and appreciated the role of local and foreign media persons in discharging their professional duties while highlighting the ongoing situation and alleged state-terrorism in Kashmir.

Condemning the behaviour of some miscreants who had misbehaved with the correspondent of Press TV, the spokesman appealed people to be aware of such elements and not allow them to succeed.
