JK Chief Minister, Union Home Minister discuss Kashmir situation
Govt ready for dialogue with anyone: Rajnath


Srinagar, August 25(Scoop News)- Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister, who concluded his two day visit to Jammu and Kashmir today, met the Chief Minister, Ms Mehbooba Mufti here this morning and held detailed discussions on the prevailing situation in the Valley.



The Chief Minister briefed the Union Home Minister in detail about the obtaining internal security situation and the political initiatives and confidence building measures required to be taken for the restoration of normalcy in the State.



The Chief Minister called for reaching out to the larger majority in the State who want resolution of the issues through peaceful political means. She said while a vast majority of people in the State, from all shades of political opinion, want resolution of the issue through peaceful political means, it is only a marginal section of youth who indulge in violence and hamper the resolution process. “We shall have to reach out to the larger peace-loving sections of the society and try to work out a solution by listening to their concerns,” she said and called for starting a credible and result-oriented dialogue process with all the stakeholders.
The Chief Minister called for reviving the reconciliation and resolution process with fresh resolve to address the political, economic and developmental concerns of the people of the State. She specifically stressed the need for reaching out to the youth to placate their anger and address the alienation in the larger interest of peace and stability in the State.

He declared that there is no future of India without Kashmir and said that his Government is ready for dialogue with anyone.
Singh said an alternative to pellet guns will be proposed within a few days in the wake of widespread criticism of the crowd-control device. “An expert committee set up and mandated to look for an alternative to pellet guns is expected to give its report in two-three days”, he said.

Expressing grief over the deaths in Kashmir, Singh said, “those who died in the recent days, whether it was security official or a local, they are our own people.”


While addressing a joint press conference with Mufti, the Home Minister appealed to the Kashmiris not to play with the future of youth in the Valley.
He said, “the youth and the children should be stopped from resorting to stone-pelting,” adding, “at a time when the next generation should have books, computers in their hands, some people with vested interests are motivating them them to pick up stones.”
Singh asked the Kashmiris to expose the people who are throwing the youth into darkness.

Home Minister said an all-party delegation will soon visit Jammu and Kashmir to interact with cross sections of people and the Chief Minister has been told to make arrangements for it.

Coming to the defence of armed forces, the Home Minister asserted that the security personnel have been told to exercise maximum restraint and they are doing so.
On the issue of usage of pellet guns, the Union Cabinet Minister assured that an alternate non-lethal weapon will be provided soon.
The Home Minister, who is on a 2-day visit to the Valley said, since yesterday he has met 300 people from different sections of the society.


Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti in a press conference said that trouble makers will be strongly dealt with and won’t be allowed to make life hell for the majority in Kashmir who want peaceful resolution of the issues.
She said no solution can be found from stone pelting and attacking security camps. She said 95 per cent people of Jammu and Kashmir want a peaceful solution through dialogue and just five per cent are derailing the whole process. “95 per cent people of the State don’t want violence, they want peace. We have to reach out to them,” she said.
Mehbooba said focus of the Central Government and political parties should be those 95 per cent Kashmiris who do not want to create trouble, who do not want to attack establishment for vested interests.
