Shina Drass Liftes Kargil Polo Trophy
Youth Should Take this Game as Profession: Haji Anayat Ali

Kargil,August 27(Scoop News)- Shina Drass lifted the first Kargil Polo Tournament by defeating Himalayan Drass A by 1 goal.

This was the initiative of the District Police Kargil for reviving the age old tradition of Horse Polo in Kargil and more than 6 teams from all over Kargil Participated in the tournament.
While talking on this occasion the chief Guest on the occasion Chairman J&K Legislative Council Haji Anayat Ali appreciated the role of district police Kargil and told that this step for organizing polo matches is a leap in preserving the traditions of Kargil.
He also appreciated the people Drass, Bodh Karbo and Wakha for preserving this game of heritage and told that it’s time to promote this game in Kargil as a major tourist attraction as well as a professional game.
Beside policing and prevention and detention of crime district police Kargil is focuised and committed to encourage and promote traditional sports and give the touths a direction for their overall development, SP Kargil Rahul Malik told.
Later the chief guest distributed Trophies and Mementoes amongst the winner and runner up teams and cash prize of s 15,000 and 7,000 respectively.
The final game was witnessed by world renowned historian and Tibetologist Prof Dieter Shue, Commander 121 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier T K Chopra, CO BSF SM Kispota, Additional SP, Polo Promoter of Kargil Mohammad Amin Polo, District Officers and Top Police Officials along with some of the prominent personalities of Kargil.
Its pertinent to mention here that this year for the first time in the history of Polo in J&K 10 Girls has been imparted Polo training at Drass Kargil and for the first time a women team from Ladakh will participate in national level events and people in Kargil and polo lovers appreciates the efforts of Mohammad Amin Polo for the promotion of this traditional game in Kargil.
The game has been almost died after the Kargil War but this was Mohammad Amins effort that he revived the game and even participated in National level events.
