Muharram arrangements finalized in Budgam
Hanjura for smooth conduct of processions
Budgam, September 28, (Scoop News)-Minister for Agriculture Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura today directed district administration of Budgam to put in place all possible arrangements for ensuring smooth and peaceful Muharram by providing essential commodities, power and drinking water supply, medicare, firewood and other basic amenities to people particularly in Shia dominated areas of the district.
The Minister was addressing a meeting of district officers convened here today to finalize the arrangements for ensuing Muharram-ul-Harram.
MLC Mr Saif-ud-Din Bhat was also present in the meeting.
The Minister stressed on the district administration to work in unison and utmost dedication to ensure that the people don’t face any inconvenience during Muharram days. He asked the concerned to maintain proper sanitation and cleanliness in and around Imam Baras and other places of congregations. He also directed the concerned to make sure that essential commodities have been reached to public well in time.
The Minister directed PDD authorities to ensure repairing of all existing LED and Hi-Mast street lights in the district.
Mr Hanjura said that Government will leave no stone unturned in providing all necessary amenities to people so that the holy month of Muharram particularly the auspicious days pass smoothly and people are satisfied with the arrangements made by Government functionaries.
Giving brief account of arrangements made by the district administration for Muharram-ul-Harram, the Deputy Commissioner Budgam Mir Altaf Ahmad informed that appropriate locations have been identified for setting up of First Aid Centres with adequate stock of life saving drugs and other required materials.
The DC informed the meeting that concerned departments has been directed to ensure uninterrupted water and power supply during Muharram days round- the-clock particularly in Shia dominated areas of the district, adding that 20 gen-sets have also been kept available to meet any emergency.
The meeting was informed that adequate stock of essential commodities including rice, sugar, Atta, kerosene and LPG has been made available in the district. A proposal for additional quota of five kgs of rice and two Kgs of sugar per family for the district have been prepared and sent to higher authorities for approval, the meeting was informed.
The meeting was informed that the dumping of fire wood has been started at 30 identified locations of the district and 1000 quintals have been dumped so far. All major roads, link roads and lanes leading to Imambaras have been renovated and repaired, the meeting was informed.
Among others, SSP Budgam Abdul Waheed Shah and other senior officers of district administration attended the meeting.
