SSH Kakryal to perform another 100 major surgeries / procedures at half rates from 1st Navratra,free OPD facility
10% concession on all other procedures extended till Dec 31



Kakryal, September 30, (Scoop News)-The Governing Body of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Kakryal, today announced several concessions to the patients undergoing major surgeries and other procedures across all the clinical specialities. Shri Sunil Narayan, Chief Executive Officer of Superspeciality Hospital Kakryal informed that w.e.f. 1st October 2016 the Hospital will provide 50% concession on next 100 major surgeries.


Today’s decision will provide very significant relief to the patients who have been awaiting treatment and surgery but could not mobilise the required resources. Cardiac surgeries, Knee-replacements and Hip-replacements are among the major surgeries which will be provided 50% concession on the hospital's normal rates.

Dr. S. S. Bloeria, Chairman Governing Body and members of the Governing Body have taken these decisions in the overall public interest, in consultation with Shri N. N. Vohra, Chairman of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board.


These concessions shall be provided to the patients from tomorrow, October 1, 2016 onwards, on the auspicious occasion of commencement of holy Navratras. It is pertinent to mention that the Hospital has been announcing varied concessions as part of its commitment to provide affordable healthcare. Dr. Bloeria informed the Governor that the total cost of various concessions extended to the patients since April 2016 amounts to Rs. 1.73 crore.


The Governing Body has also announced its decision to extend free OPD facility and 10% concession on all other procedures, across the various specialities, upto 31st December 2016. These concessions have been announced with a view to benefit the people at large, particularly the locals and patients belonging to the economically less advantaged strata of the society.


This 230-bed tertiary care Superspeciality Hospital, established by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, is also providing substantial concessions in respect of an identified list of highly priced life saving essential medicines, especially for treatment of cancer. It is also providing 10% uniform discount on all the medicines sold through the Hospital’s OPD Pharmacy.


Besides the aforesaid concessions announced by the Hospital, the Shrine Board is supporting the treatment of various categories of patients at its own expense. Shri Ajeet Kumar Sahu, CEO Shrine Board, informed that the farmers whose lands had been acquired, even in past, for establishing Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University and the Superspeciality Hospital, have been given medical facilities through Insurance Cover at the expense of the Shrine Board.


Under this scheme, the former land owners and their spouses have been insured for getting cashless treatment in any of the empanelled hospitals of the Insurance Company all over the country. The Shrine Board is also bearing the cost of providing free OPD consultation to the villagers of the nearby four villages of Sira, Kakryal, Sool and Kotla.


It is relevant to note that pilgrims to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine who fall ill or meet an accident are also being provided free of cost medical care, including major surgeries. The Board is also extending support for treatment of poor persons in the Superspeciality Hospital under its Arogya Yojana, a scheme of gratuitous relief for poor patients. So far Rs. 28.92 lakh have been spent by the Board on providing free medical care to the poor patients.


Since its opening on April 8, this year, the Hospital has treated 32,838 OPD and 1606 indoor patients; performed 602 surgeries, including 20 Total Knee Replacements and 5 Total Hip Replacement surgeries; performed Angiography in 99 cases and Angioplasty in 23 cases.


The Oncology OPD was attended by 998 patients of whom 190 patients received chemotherapy; 60 patients underwent cancer related surgeries and the 61 patients were also given radiation treatment for radiosensitive malignancies; 33 Cardiac (Open Heart) Surgeries have been performed at this Hospital and Haemodialysis has been done in 910 cases.


The Hospital has set up the J&K’s first Linear Accelerator for treatment of cancers. Brachytherapy and Gamma Camera are scheduled to become functional very shortly. The Hospital’s Institute of Oncology is the first in the State to provide complete Cancer care and treatment in all departments of Cancer care i.e. Medical Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Heamato Oncology and Radiation Oncology....
