CEC,LAHDC, Dr. Sonam visits remote areas of Thiksey constituency


Leh,December 04, (Scoop News)-After becoming the chairmen of Hill Council, Leh, the Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Leh Dr. Sonam Dawa Lonpo made his first official tour of Thiksey constituency. Accompanied by Executive Councilor for Works Dorjey Motup, ACD, Leh Tsering Paldan, Executive Engineers, BDO and officers, CEC visited Shey-Yoknos, Shey Kongnos, Stakmo, Thiksay, Rambirpur and Nang villages.
Listening to the problems and grievances of villagers, CEC Dr. Dawa appealed the people of his constituency to use him as their villager and Councilor and assured to address their problems as a true representative of the area. Requesting people of his constituency to convey their demands through their respective Gobas, CEC assured to visit all the villages on first Monday of every month to know the problems of people.
Responding to some common demands of all the visited villages, CEC informed the people that a project for protection bunds along six vulnerable Nallahs including Stakmo Nallah and training of Indus River form Stakna to Phey is stand submitted at Centre Govt. In addition to that Council has already projected protection of bunds along all the Nallahs of Leh district under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojna (PMKSY) and hoped for earliest approval of the project. Said Dr. Dawa. He further assured the people for construction of protection bunds on vulnerable spots of Indus River and all the Nallhas in consent with villages on priority basis in months to come.
Regarding construction of link roads, CEC said that until and unless a particular road project is taken under a scheme with availability of funds, the road could not be completed and appealed villages to project such roads priority wise.
To boost the milk related trade in the Shey –Thiksey belt, CEC Dr. said that Council is planning to commission the Pasteurization Plant and other machines of Animal Husbandry Dept. very shortly which will immensely benefit the farmers. He further said that Council is in touch with AMUL to lead the milk industry of Leh towards new heights.
During his tour it was came to know that drinking water facility is not satisfactory in Shey and Thiksay villages. Dr. Dawa assured the people that he will try his level best to improve the drinking water facility by next summer.
