Manhas chairs DRSC meeting of Home Deptt
Panel for enhancing percentage quota for conversion of SPOs as Constables during regularization
Jammu, December 08, (Scoop News)-The Police department has appointed 98 Prosecuting Officers, besides 3622 posts of Constables came to be filled through Police Recruitment Board under Transparent Recruitment Process during the last two years.
This information was given in a meeting of Department Related Standing Committee (DRSC) on Home Department of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council chaired by MLC, Dr Zafar Iqbal Manhas, here today. The meeting was convened to review the working of Home department.
The meeting was attended by the Legislators, Dr Shehnaz Ganai and Surinder Kumar Choudhary.
Threadbare discussions were held on various issues including schemes operational for the welfare of Police Personnel, deployment of female SPOs on LoC and verification of Passports.
It was given out in the meeting that in the Gazetted Cadre two Superintendent Jails have been appointed in the Department through Public Service Commission one each from Baramulla and Samba districts. Under Defence Labour Procurement, four appointments for the post of Messengers (class 4th) State Cadre have been made through direct recruitment during last two years, the meeting was told.
The Committee appreciated the Home department for recruitment of Constables on transparent manner, however it suggested that every district should be given equal share. The panel directed the Council Secretariat to seek detailed information regarding criteria adopted for recruiting Constables from the Home Department for scrutiny of the Committee Members. It also sought detailed information about the criteria adopted for regularization of SPOs.
The Panel recommended for enhancing quota percentage for conversion and absorption of SPOs from 15 percent to 25 percent of the available vacancies as Constables or Followers on the basis presently already in vogue during their regularization.
Principal Secretary, Home R. K. Goyal briefed the meeting about the functioning of the Home department.
Director General Prison, S. K. Mishra, ADG Security Dilbagh Singh, ADGP Vigilance V. K. Singh, Director General, Fire and Emergency R. S. Sodhi, IGP Vigilance Ashok Puri, IGP Jammu Zone Danish Rana, Special Secretary Home Zubair Ahmad, Special Secretary Law Achal Sethi and other officers of Home Department and Council Secretariat were present in the meeting.
