Div Com reviews progress in key sectors;
Takes stock of winter arrangements in Baramulla, Kupwara
Srinagar, December 8, (Scoop News)-Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, today took a comprehensive review of various developmental projects being executed under core sectors and winter preparedness in Baramulla and Kupwara districts.
In a high level meeting chaired by the Div Com, the Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Dr Nasir Naqash, said that against an approved allocation of Rs 231.36 crore under the District Plan for the current fiscal an amount of Rs 75.64 crore has been made available against which Rs 44.06 crore stands expended till December 07, 2016.
The meeting was informed that under R&B Sector, out of the total 36 bridges taken under State sector for year 2016-17 against an estimated cost of Rs 102. 41crore, as many as 9 bridges will be completed by the end of current fiscal.
The Divisional Commissioner impressed upon the officers to start work in double-shifts so that the pending projects may be completed within stipulated time.
While reviewing the Education sector, it was said that 98.4 percent of students appeared in the recently held board examinations.
The Div Com directed the PDD Officials to publicize the curtailment schedule through media and ensure smooth power supply as per schedule and avoid unwarranted power cuts. He also directed the officials of Enforcement Wing to keep a check on power thefts. He said as per the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti’s direction uninterrupted power supply should be made available to the people on the occasion of Milad. Further, he asked the PDD officials to constitute a special task force for timely repair of faulty transformers.
Mr. Khan, called upon Irrigation and Flood & control Department officials to expedite ongoing dredging work in Sopore and Baramulla. Similarly, the officials of PHE department were asked to complete all the pending projects under various sectors and complete the target of providing safe drinking water to all the educational institutions in a time bound manner.
The meeting was informed that under Integrated Child Development Services scheme there are 12 projects with 2425 AWC, out of which 2378 AWC are operational. It was also said that the tendering process for the procurement of nutrition items has been completed and the supply orders have been placed for the same.
Taking stock of winter arrangements in district Baramulla, the Div Com asked the officers to remain stationed at the district headquarters and forge efficient coordination to improve delivery of services during the winter.
On the occasion, it was said that all snow clearance machines are in full readiness and have been stationed at respective places for smooth clearance operations. The Div Com directed the DC Baramulla that a joint control room should be set up to deal with any kind of exigency.
He also inspected various ongoing developmental works in the district including at Government Medical College Baramulla, Womens Degree College Baramulla and Girls Higher Secondary School Baramulla.
Later, Mr. Baseer Khan visited Kupwara and chaired a review meeting there. ADC Kupwara briefed the Div Com about physical and financial achievements made under various sectors in the district.
The meeting was informed about the winter preparedness in the district, especially in the border areas. The Divisional Commissioner directed the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara to hold periodical meetings with the district and sectoral officers on regular basis to review the pace of work on various developmental projects.
