| CEO reviews Panchayat polls preparedness | |
jammu, February 16, (Scoop News)-Chief Electoral Officer Shantmanu reviewed the preparedness for Panchayat Elections – 2017 during a meeting with the Deputy Commissioners of the Jammu Division held here today.
Commissioner Secretary, RDD Kifayat Rizvi, Deputy CEO Krishan Lal, Director RDD Jammu, Ravinder Kumar Bhat and concerned senior officers attended the meeting.
All the DCs, who have been asked to act as District Panchayat Election Officers, briefed CEO through video conferencing about preparations and activities carried out in their respective districts for upcoming elections. They also raised various queries related to the election process.
The meeting held threadbare deliberations on various aspects regarding smooth conduct of the upcoming Panchayat elections.
The CEO directed the concerned to prepare the electoral roll at the earliest and start the data entry process well in time. He also asked to expedite arrangements necessary for smooth and peaceful conduct of the elections.
Shantmanu asked the District Panchayat Election Officers to conduct physical verification of all proposed polling stations. He said the broad timeline has been prepared and the whole exercise has to be done accordingly. He further asked them to monitor the objections to be filed in the coming time on daily basis and to dispose of them in time bound manner.
He also stressed upon the DPEO’s to work in synergy and ensure foolproof arrangements so that general public does not face any inconvenience.
