05 drug peddlers arrested in Srinagar

Srinagar, February 17, (Scoop News)- To continue its efforts to weed out the menace of drug abuse in Hazratbal area a Police team headed by SHO Police Station Nigeen under the supervision of SDPO Zakoora/Nigeen Shri Sajad Malik was constituted. The team succeeded in arresting five notorious drug peddlers.
On 7th of February 2017, one person identified as Ashiq Rasool Tantry son of Ghulam Rasool Tantray resident of Beehama Ganderbal was arrested. 100 bottles of codeine phosphate were recovered from his possession.
On 27th of January 2017, during naka checking an Alto car was stopped by the police for routine checking. On checking the vehicle 06 strips of tablets were recovered from the possession of Azhar Din son of Mushtaq Ahmad Deen resident of Wani Hama and Irshad Ahmad Parray son of Abdul Rashid resident of Rangpora Zakoora were arrested. On questioning they disclosed the name of another person identified as Ghulam Hassan son of Abdul Rashid resident of Hazratbal. From his possession 02 more strips of tablets were recovered.
On 3rd of January 2017 a motorcycle driven by Rahil Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Yaseen Bhat resident of Ellahi Bagh Soura was intercepted during a naka checking at Habak Crossing. On checking 50 strips of tablets were recovered from his possession.
Srinagar police has registered cases 8/21, 18/2017 and 01/2017 under section 8/21 NDPS Act respectively in Police Station Nigeen and investigation has been taken up.
