Steering committee of CUCET-2017 holds meeting

Srinagar, February 19, (Scoop News)- A meeting of the Steering Committee of the CUCET-2017 consortium comprising 11 Central Universities from across the country was held at Gulmarg on Saturday.
Seven Vice-Chancellors and representatives of these Central Universities discussed and approved the modalities in respect of the upcoming Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET-2017). The admission notice for the various programmes offered by these universities is expected to be put online by the middle of March, 2017 and entrance test is tentatively scheduled for the 3rd week of May.
During the meeting, the decision of the Central University of Kashmir to conduct the admission tests for some integrated programmes on their own immediately following the declaration of the 12th class results was appreciated keeping in view the interests of the students of the state. However, the students from the valley through CUCET 2017 could have additional option to opt for various other integrated programmes offered by the Universities across the country.
The Vice-Chancellor of the Central University of Kashmir, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir impressed upon the consortium to prepone the admission processes of the CUCET 2017 in the interest of the students of the valley which was agreed upon. The option of conducting multiple entrance tests through CUCET to cater to different academic calendars was also discussed threadbare and modus operandi would be proposed in very near future.
Prof Mehraj Ud Din impressed upon the members of the Steering committee to explore ways and means for providing more opportunities to the students of the state of J&K. Besides partnering in the smooth conduct of the admission test of CUCET 2017, the committee took some very important decisions to forge more productive alliance through various academic initiatives including faculty and student exchange programmes amongst the participating Universities.
The members of the steering committee thanked the host university for the warm hospitality extended for the successful conduct of the meet.
