Schools best places to engender moral education among students: Zulfkar Ali
Says onus lies on parents, teachers to inculcate ethical values among children
Jammu, February 22, (Scoop News)- Minister for Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Choudhary Zulfkar Ali today said that inculcating moral values among children is important, and for it onus primarily lies on the parents and teachers.
The Minister said this during the annual day function of New Era Environmental High School, held here at Police Auditorium. MLA, Rajesh Gupta was also present on the occasion.
The Minister said parents are the first school for a child, and main grooming starts from the lap of the mother. He said children are same everywhere, however, it is their upbringing that distinguishes one from another.
Mr. Zulfkar Ali requested parents to invest some time in imparting moral values among their wards. He said children are the fast learners and they pick up whatever, they see around them.
“For children their parents usually are their role models and they try to emulate them in every action they do. Therefore, to build a good character among our children it is important we as parents behave well in front of them,” suggested the Minister.
“We have to ensure that our children while getting taught the greatness of science also understand importance of showing regard and respect to their elders. We have to make them realize that being unselfish is a good thing and so is helping those who are in need,” the Minister said.
The Minister said without moral values and etiquettes we are nothing, but failures, even if our name would feature in the rich list of world.
Highlighting the role of teachers, the Ministers said after parents, it is their teacher that a child looks at. He said therefore, it is important that teachers are well aware of their responsibility in mentoring children to make them assets that would help in making a strong nation in the years to come.
The Minister reiterated the responsibility schools have in ensuring quality education. He said while parents pay whatever, they are asked by the school administration it is therefore the responsibility of the latter that they deliver what they have promised at the time of admission.
The Minister appreciated MLA Rajesh Gupta for his efforts in creating some infrastructure for school children from his Constituency Development Fund. He said steps like these go alone way in making people feel that those in power not only remember them, but also care for their well being.
Speaking on the occasion, the MLA stressed the need for proper grooming of children to make a better system. He said since children are the future of the nation, the dream of constituting a strong nation would only be realized when they are groomed properly.
Earlier, children of the school besides, playing a skit on human trafficking issue also performed cultural show including various colorful dances performances. Later the Minister and the MLA distributed prizes among the winners, participants, and teachers for their various contributions.
