Rich tributes paid to Kasturba Gandhi on her 73rd death anniversary

Jammu, February 22, (Scoop News)- Paying homage to Smt Kasturba Gandhi on her 73rd death Anniversary, Government College for Women (GCW) Parade Ground today organised a one day seminar on 'Sheroes of India's freedom struggle' in collaboration with Beti & Shiksha (B&S) Foundation New Delhi and Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti New Delhi.
Glorious tributes were paid to Smt Kasturba Gandhi and other women freedom fighters by the speakers and their role in fighting for civil rights and independence of India were highlighted.
The dignitaries present on the occasion included Chief Secretary, B R Sharma as Chief Guest, DG Home Guards, J K Sharma, Social Activist Sushil Pandit, renowned artist & writer and former Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, Prof Rita Jitendra, Chairperson IAS Officers' Wives Association J&K, Mrs Ruby Sharma, President B&S Foundation, Mrs Renu Sharma, Principal GCW and others.
The seminar started with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and paying floral tributes to Smt Kasturba Gandhi by the Chief Guest and other dignitaries.
The seminar was informed that Smt Kasturba Gandhi fought along with Gandhi Ji for civil rights and Indian independence against the British. She acted as a pillar of support to Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi and her involvement in national and social causes motivated other women to join the socio-political movements that were gaining momentum in India.
