JK CM, Dy CM, Ministers extend warm greetings to people on Mahashivratri

Jammu, February 22, (Scoop News)- Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has extended warm greetings to the people of state on the auspicious festival of Mahashivratri-celebrated as Hairath in Kashmir Valley.
In her felicitations, the Chief Minister hoped that the auspicious day will usher the state in new era of peace and development and strengthen bonds of brotherhood among the people.
She said the festival of Mahashivratri has both religious and cultural importance as the day is celebrated by the people of all shades. She recalled that the day is celebrated in Kashmir Valley as Hairath by Kashmiri Hindus in amity with the Muslim brothers.


Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh today extended greetings to the people of the state on the eve of Mahashivratri.
In his message of felicitations, the Deputy Chief Minister said Mahashivratri is a major religious festival symbolizing composite culture of Jammu & Kashmir.
He said Kashmiri Pandits have been traditionally celebrating this auspicious festival, also known as Hairath, from times immemorial with active cooperation and blessings of the majority community, giving out a clear message of amity, harmony and brotherhood to the world.
Dr Singh said the composite culture of the State symbolizes our balanced thinking and provides inspiration to others to pursue the path of ultimate truth.
Wishing a happy Mahashivratri to the people of the State, the Deputy CM expressed hope that it will usher in a new era of peace and goodwill among all sections of the society.


Chairman Legislative Council, Haji Anayat Ali and Speaker, Legislative assembly Kavinder Gupta have greeted the people on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri, which is celebrated by Kashmiri Pandits as Hairath.
In their messages of felicitation, they said that this festival symbolizes the values of piety, devotion, brotherhood and harmony, which are the hallmarks of our glorious cultural ethos.
Wishing the people a happy Mahashivratri, the Chairman and the Speaker prayed for peace, progress and prosperity in the State.
The Council of Ministers including Mr Abdul Rehman Veeri, Mr Chander Parkash Ganga ,Mr Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura, Mr Bali Bhagat, Mr Abdul Haq Khan, Mr Lal Singh, Syed Basharat Ahmed Bukhari, Mr. Sajad Gani Lone , Dr Haseeb A. Drabu, Mr. Chering Dorjay, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali, Mr. Sham Lal Chaudhary ,Mr Naeem Akhtar, Mr. Abdul Ghani Kohli, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, Ms Asiea Naqash, Mr. Sunil Sharma, Mr. Farooq Ahmad Andrabi, Ms Priya Sethi , Mir Zahoor Ahmad and Mr Ajay Nanda have greeted the people of Jammu & Kashmir on Mahashivratri.
In their greeting message, the Ministers said that celebration of the festival reminds people of the bonds of brotherhood and harmony and symbolizes the composite culture of the State. They said the festival symbolizes love and amity among each other, adding these values should be upheld at all costs.
Wishing happy and prosperous Mahashivratri, especially to the Kashmiri Pandits, the Ministers prayed that the day would bring all-round development and peace in the State. The festival is celebrated as Hairath by the Kashmir Pandits.




Advisor to the Chief Minister, Prof. Amitabh Mattoo has greeted the people on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri, which is celebrated by Kashmiri Pandits as Hairath.
In his message, Prof Amitabh Mattoo said this festival symbolizes the values of piety, devotion, brotherhood and harmony, which are the hallmark of our glorious cultural ethos.
Wishing the people a happy Mahashivratri, he referred to the tradition of the people of Jammu and Kashmir of celebrating such occasions in amity and brotherhood. He expressed the hope that this trait will get further strengthened with the passage of time and all contribute positively in flourishing this speciality and characteristics of the State.
Prof Amitabh Mattoo said celebration of holy occasions and festivals collectively and in togetherness adds colour to the joyful events. “Hairath is the important part of Kashmiriyat and denotes historical bonds of love and amity between Hindus and Muslims,” he added. He also prayed for peace and betterment of the State and the Country on the occasion.
