Muneer-ul-Islam reviews pace of work on highway upgradation project
DDC Pulwama distributes motorized tricycles among differently-abled
Pulwama,February 23, (Scoop News)- District Development Commissioner Pulwama, Muneer-ul-Islam, today chaired a meeting to review pace of work on National Highway 444 project which passes through the district connecting it with Srinagar and Qazigund.
During the meeting, the DDC emphasized on the importance of the National Highway 444 project and said that the proposed highway will improve road infrastructure in the State and augment the existing road network to cater to ever increasing vehicular movement.
He directed the officials of executing agencies that minimum residential houses should be brought under its alignment and religious structures and graveyards should be excluded as far as possible.
He said that the said project when completed will expand the existing roads and would connect the Poonch–Rajouri Circular road and road leading to Lassipora industrial centre thus shall provide boost to economy.
The DDC directed the officials to complete the revenue papers to be by March 2017, while as officials of executing agency will depute a dedicated team with revenue agency to carry out the task in an efficient and transparent manner.

District Development Commissioner Pulwama, Muneer-ul-Islam, today distributed motorized tricycles among physically challenged persons at MFI Patalbagh, Samboora at a function here organized by State Rehabilitation Council in collaboration with Department of Social Welfare.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said that the inclusion of specially-abled persons into the public life is must under the broader umbrella of inclusive growth and called for harnessing their potential to the optimum.
He said that physically challenged persons should be taken care of and should be made equal partners in the development process and urged that besides government offices, educational and healthcare institutions should become more accessible for such people.
The DDC also appreciated the role of Social Welfare Department for providing assistance to the deserving people under various State and Centrally Sponsored Schemes.
Earlier, the DDC interacted with the inmates at MFI patalbagh, a residential home for orphans and poor children, and enquired about the facilities available there. He directed the concerned to provide all the necessary facilities at the centre.
