DLL national seminar on rural development concludes at JU

Jammu, February 23, (Scoop News)- The two-day national seminar organized by the Department of Lifelong Learning (DLL), University of Jammu on “Lifelong learning and sustainable rural development” concluded here today. Prof. S.K. Bhati, Head, Department of Adult, Continuing Education and Extension, Jamia Milila Islamia University, New Delhi was the keynote speaker of the valedictory function.

Welcoming the chief guest and delegates, Dr Kavita Suri, Director and Head, Department of Lifelong Learning and MA in Rural Development, thanked all the participants for their quality presentations and also for making the seminar in the domain of rural development a success.

In his valedictory address, Professor, S.K. Bhati, highlighted the evolution of the education system in the modern world and give a detail of the historical benchmark of different dimension of the education system in the world. In his address, he also focused on the importance of extension where he referred to the recent UGC API guidelines where the extension has been extended and mandated to the all the university teachers. He also highlighted the role of the universities in addressing the national goals and challenges confronted by the nation.

Earlier, Prof. Poonam Dhawan, Head, DLL highlighted the richness of the presentation in the two days’ seminar and also thanked the participants for their venture of creating knowledge. Dr. Priyanka Sharma, Sr. Assistant Professor, DLL presented the seminar report in which she highlighted the detail of the proceeding with the key research inputs of the participants. She informed that six technical sessions were conducted in the seminar in which more than 60 papers were presented on the various themes pertaining to the rural development including panchayat raj system, issues of grass root democracy, poverty, Dalit emancipation, ICT and role in the field of development and spread of knowledge, the knowledge network, rural education, displacement, refugees, border life etc.

The seminar further enriched by participants participated ranging from West Bengal to Kashmir University. The formal Vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Vivek Sharma, Sr. Assistant Professor, Department of Lifelong Learning and the valedictory programme was conducted by Ms. Sonakshi Samnotra.
