Dr Farooq, Omar Abdullah greet people on Mahashivratri | | Srinagar, February 23, (Scoop News)- National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah and Working President Mr Omar Abdullah have greeted the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the auspicious occasion of Shivratri, observed by Kashmiri Pandits as Herath, and expressed the hope that the festival will be celebrated in a spirit of harmony. They prayed for peace and tranquility and hoped the state to usher in a new era of goodwill among all sections of the society. In a message Dr. Farooq Abdullah said that the auspicious occasion symbolizes great composite cultural ethos for which Jammu & Kashmir is known all over. He said such occasions strengthen bonds of amity, love and secular temperament among all sections of the society. He said Herath has been perhaps one of the festivals across the world facilitated by majority community and observed by the minority brethren from times immemorial in true spirit of Kashmir’s composite and pluralistic ethos. "Like other festivals, Shivratri symbolizes composite culture of Jammu and Kashmir that provides inspiration to others to pursue the path of ultimate truth", Working President Mr Omar Abdullah said while greeting the people. In his felicitation message on the auspicious Mahashivratri, NC General Secretary Mr Ali Mohammed Sagar has prayed for peace and tranquility in the State. Provincial Presidents Mr Devender Singh Rana and Mr Nasir Aslam Wani Have also greeted the people on Shivratri and expressed the hope that the festival will be observed as per traditions with fervor and gaiety.
