Mirwaiz demands immediate release of all political prisoners
exhorts restraint and self control on extravaganza and splurge in marriages

Srinagar, February 24, (Scoop News)-All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leader, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Friday alleged hundreds of innocent youth had been detained in frivolous cases and were languishing in jails and police stations all around the valley.


Addressing a massive Friday congregation at Srinagar’s historic Jamia Masjid, the APHC leader among these political prisoners, a large number were elderly and ailing persons while many were juveniles and by detaining them in jails far away from their home.

Calling for putting an end to this politics of vendetta, Mirwaiz demanded immediate release of all these political prisoners.

Referring to the guest control decision of the Govt. APHC leader said that it is sad that we need external controls rather than exercising self-control and restraint on our desire for extravaganza and splurge, especially when our deen (Islam) and its teachings which are the guiding principle of our life clearly define how we should live, simply and keeping the underprivileged in mind.

Meanwhile, after the Friday congregational prayers, as per the programme of the joint leadership many Hurriyat leaders and workers participated in a peaceful protest demonstration outside Jamia Masjid Srinagar demanding immediate release of all political prisoners held in jails across Jammu Kashmir and outside.
